Step 1: Accept or Decline Admission Decision

  • Accept or decline UT admission via your MyStatus link before the admission deadline, December 1.

Step 2: DUO Multi-Factor Authentication

  • During your time as a student, you will be prompted to use the DUO Multi-Factor Authentication on certain instances. You can find information on this application and sign up HERE.

Step 3: Canvas & Student Handbook

  • Canvas is UT Austin’s official web-based learning management system for all your courses. It serves as a central hub for our students to access course materials, communicate with instructors, submit assignments, and track grades.
  • Once you accept admission, the student handbook will be found on Canvas for you to reference when you have questions regarding classes, tuition, dropping/adding a class, attendance/absences, etc.
  • We encourage you to refer to the Student Handbook regularly so that you are aware of your responsibilities as a UT Student.

Step 4: Student ID

  • To obtain your ID card please click here to complete your ID application.
  • TxEEE students need an official UT ID card to access classroom buildings. The Student ID cards will allow you access to student resources and other benefits.
  • If you complete the ID application 48 hours before orientation, your card will be available for pick up by one of our staff members and issued to you at orientation check-in.
  • Once you receive an email from the ID Center that your ID card is available for pick-up, please forward this email to utmasters@engr.utexas.edu so one of our staff can pick-up your ID Card. If not, you will be required to pick-up your ID card in-person before your first day of class.
  • The ID Center is conveniently located on the first floor of the FAC.
  • To complete the ID application, you will need to sign up for the DUO authentication above.
  • Students enrolled in online programs are eligible for university IDs and are encouraged to apply for one to take advantage of the benefits they offer. If you are unable to pick it up in person, we can mail it to you.

Step 5: Class Registration

  • You can select your class selection via a New Student Registration link. You will receive an email with specific instructions per your degree from your graduate coordinator.
  • To ensure your class registration goes smoothly, please make certain to clear any Holds on your student record. View this link on how to Resolve Holds.
  • If you are admitted to the Engineering Management Master’s Degree Program – Fast Track, you will attend class full-time (12 credit hours) and you will be automatically registered for your classes, if there are no holds preventing registration.

Step 6: Important Signing Documentation

  • Invoices will be emailed to registered students from our Financial Office on December 15th. Tuition is due in full by January 15th. If you are on a payment plan, your first payment will be due by January 15th.
  • Student Financial Accountability Statement: You will receive this via DocuSign with your first invoice.
  • Photo Release Paperwork: You will receive a Photo Release form via DocuSign to be completed before Orientation.

Step 7: New Student Orientation

  • New Student Orientation takes place on Thursday, January 15, 2026 (1:00-4:00pm). The orientation will be held on the UT campus, followed by a happy hour to network with current students. Parking on campus will be validated for the day – you will receive validation when you check in for orientation. The new student orientation is mandatory for Engineering Management and Software Engineering students.
  • The new student orientation for Mechanical Engineering and Semiconductor Processing students is online, however if you would like to join us in person, please indicate that in your RSVP. A Zoom link will be provided via email after you RSVP.

Step 8: First Day of Classes

  • Your in-person classes will be held in the Ernest J. Cockrell Building located at 301 E. Dean Keeton Street, Austin, TX 78712 on the first floor. Room locations will be found on Canvas or on the Class Registration Survey. Engineering Management students will always meet in ECJ 1.318 (unless otherwise notified by your graduate coordinator).
  • If you are attending classes in-person, you will need your ID card to access the building on Saturdays.
